Peyronie’s Disease & Curvature Correction

Penile Plication: Recovery

Penile Plication: Recovery

  • Swelling and bruising of the penis are common and settle over a couple of weeks.
  • Keep the dressing on as instructed, usually 1 to 2 days. Wear snug briefs with the penis pointed up.
  • Ice for 20 minutes at a time over the first 48 hours. Shower after 48 hours.
  • You may feel small knots under the skin. These are the permanent stitches that hold the correction and are normal.
  • Some numbness or a change in feeling at the head of the penis can happen. It usually improves over weeks to months.
  • Plication corrects curvature by shortening the longer side, so some loss of length is expected.
  • Nighttime erections can be uncomfortable early on.
  • No sex for about 6 weeks. I may recommend traction afterward.
