MEN’S HEALTH

Medications & Non-Surgical Care

Start with the simplest option

Most men I see for erection problems, low testosterone, Peyronie’s disease, or urinary symptoms start with medication or an office treatment, and many never need more. My practice covers both men’s health and reconstructive urology, so if a first-line treatment stops working, the next step is already here.

Erectile dysfunction

Pills such as sildenafil or tadalafil are usually the first step. If they don’t work well enough or cause side effects, penile injections (Trimix or alprostadil) work for many men who don’t respond to pills. I teach the technique in the office, and you have a video guide at home. A vacuum device is a drug-free option. A penile implant is available if none of these work for you, but it’s never the starting point.

Peyronie’s disease

Treatment depends on whether the curve is still changing. Options include traction therapy at home and Xiaflex injections in the office to soften the plaque and reduce curvature. Surgery is reserved for curvature that is stable and still gets in the way of sex.

Low testosterone

I evaluate and manage testosterone therapy myself: confirming low levels with proper morning blood tests, talking through fertility plans before starting, and monitoring your blood count, PSA, and symptoms over time.

Male fertility

A basic fertility workup for men includes a semen analysis, hormone testing, and an exam for treatable causes such as a varicocele. I coordinate with your partner’s fertility team when needed.

Urinary symptoms

Medication is often enough for an enlarged prostate or an overactive bladder. When it isn’t, office options such as UroLift, Rezūm, bladder Botox, and nerve stimulation come before surgery.
