IN THE OFFICE
Office Procedures
Done in Garden City, without a trip to the hospital
Many tests and treatments are done right in the office with local anesthesia. For some procedures, sedation is available in our accredited (AAAASF) office surgery suite, so you can be comfortable without a hospital visit.
Retrograde urethrogram (RUG)
An X-ray dye study that maps a urethral stricture: where it is, how long it is, and how narrow. We are one of the few practices on Long Island or in New York City that does it in the office, so the scar can often be mapped at your visit instead of on a separate trip to radiology.
Cystoscopy
A thin, flexible camera passed into the urethra and bladder with numbing gel, to look for a stricture, blockage, or other cause of symptoms. It takes a few minutes.
Optilume for urethral strictures
A drug-coated balloon that opens some short, recurrent strictures and helps keep them open. Depending on location and the stricture, it is done in the office or in the operating room.
Xiaflex and penile injection teaching
Xiaflex injections for Peyronie’s disease are given in the office in a series of visits. For erectile dysfunction, your first penile injection is done in the office so we can find the right dose and teach you the technique.
UroLift and Rezūm
Two office treatments for an enlarged prostate. UroLift holds the prostate open with small implants. Rezūm uses steam to shrink the blocking tissue over several weeks. Both usually preserve sexual function.
Vasectomy
No-scalpel vasectomy under local anesthesia, followed by a semen test to confirm it worked.
Bladder Botox and nerve stimulation
For an overactive bladder that hasn’t responded to medication: Botox injected into the bladder through a cystoscope, weekly tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) sessions, or a trial of sacral nerve stimulation.
